Red Alert - Bellway have submitted their planning application and green belt assessment drafted
14th August 2026
Hello fellow residents,
Bad news I'm afraid on two fronts, the Green Belt Assessment has been drafted and will be voted on 27/08 by the Rochford Council Planning Policy Committee and secondly Bellway have submitted their Planning Application for Lower Wyburns Farm (see below).
GREEN BELT ASSESSMENT DRAFTED:
- Who: Rochford District Council
- What: Asked a consultancy firm to carry out a Green Belt assessment of all Rochfords current Green Belt land.
- Why: Re-assess the current Green Belt to see if additional land could move to Grey Belt in order to allow further development.
- Where: This impacts Lower Wyburns Farm which was originally Green Belt but has now been re-assessed as Grey Belt.
- When: We have until 27/08 to contact councillors prior to their Planning Policy Committee meeting on 27/08 to provide feedback.
- Action: Contact your Local Councillors and provide Feedback asap

PLANNING APPLICATION SUBMITTED:
- Who: Bellway
- What: Submitted their Planning Application on 14/08.
- Why: They waited for a draft publication of the "Green Belt Assessment" paper first, then submitted their application.
- Where: This impacts Lower Wyburns Farm North & South plots, with houses planned for the South side (A127side) and green area including walkways and a park on the North side (Nevern Close side).
- When: We have until roughly 02/09 to contact Local Councillors to object.
- Action: Contact your Local Councillors and submit your Objections asap
